[APOTERRA] - Hibiscus Exfoliating Mud with Rosehip + Acai

I received multiple samples from Skinvestment's Beauty Date x MTL event back in May and Apoterra left quite an impression on me! The card they sent to each of us were all handwritten! It's a a small gesture but it's so thoughtful to send handwritten notes with samples. I really appreciate it!

Now, let's get into the product they sent. Which is the Hisbiscus Exfoliating Mud with Rosehip _ Acai.

This is a cleanser, scrub and mask in one. It contains hibiscus, honey and berry mud, which will provide gentle exfoliation and increase circulation. Which leads to a brighter, smoother and healthier complexion.

**As per usual, I received this product free from the company in exchange for my honest opinion. **

The full ingredients list is:
Ingredients: honey*, Hibiscus sabdariffa (hibiscus) flowers*, colloidal oat flour*, Cucurbita maxima (pumpkin)*, yogurt extract, Sucrose (sugar) extract*, Euterpe oleracea (açaí) berry*,Aloe barbadensis leaf*, Filipendula ulmaria (meadowsweet) powder*, Rosa canina (rosehip) fruit powder*, tocopherols (non-GMO vitamin E)*

*certified organic

The mask comes in this little glass jar and it is filled to the top. It is a red sticky mask that smells strongly like hibiscus tea. It is wonderful! I absolutely love the scent of it.

The mask is sticky from the honey and red from the hibiscus. There are red chunks which I assume are the acai berry or the hisbiscus flower, and it has a bit of a granular scrub to it which I think is the colloidal oat flour.

Side note, if you are female and using this in the shower, just remember to wash it completely off from your bathtub! Because funny story, I tried it, and checked the tub the next day. I was confused as to why there was a red clump on the bathtub and automatically thought it was discharge from period. But I got so confused because I wasn't on my period.. XD Took a good minute to remember I tried the mask and that was just residue that didn't get washed away. So be careful when using it if you don't want to make the same mistake as me!

The mask can be used in three different ways but all of which are pretty similar. They all required a dime sized mask to be applied to wet skin in a gentle circular motion. The difference is that scrub and cleanser method requires the mask to be rinsed off after application, and mask requires the product to remain on the skin for 5-15 minutes before rinsing. Because the mask is exfoliating, it recommended that it is not used for more than 2 -3 times a week. Yes, even as a cleanser, you cannot use it more than 2-3 times a week.

When I tried the mask, I didn't realized how the mask will melt on your skin. So I tried to place a glob of mask onto my wet skin, like any other masks. But it just fell off and I got so confused. I then tried to spread it out, and then the mask stayed on my skin! The motion of massaging the mask felt nice, and I can feel fine granules scrubbing against my skin. Afterward rinsing it off, my skin felt very soft and clean.

The little jar we received was supposed to be single use, but I honestly got maybe 5 uses out of it! I use it about once a week in the shower, and it is great! But just remember to tighten your lid after each use. I didn't toward the end and my mask got a little dried up. Still usable, but it was a harder to remove from the jar.

This is honestly one of my favourite products in the bag of goodies from Skinvestment and all the sponsors!

It smells wonderful! I don't like hibiscus tea but I love the scent of this mask so much. It is on the sticky side and the application is a tad different than the normal wash off masks. It is a very nice mask that feels gentle to the skin and exfoliates well. I would totally buy the full sized mask.. If it wasn't sold out! I wonder if it is available via a Canadian reseller.

Anyways.. Thank you to Apoterra for introducing me to this wonderful mask! I really love it!
