[BLOSSOM JEJU] - Pink Camellia Soombi Blooming Flower Cream

I been lusting over Blossom Jeju ever since I saw Fanserviced's review on its serum.

I decided to treat myself when Take Good Care had a sale on the brand last year. They were really kind to answer my questions about the brand and its products. They recommended that I try the Pink Camellia Soombi Blooming Flower Cream as I live in a very dry and cold environment. They felt that the cream would be best in keeping my skin moisturized during the cold winters. So I bought the cream and savoured it. I saved it and resisted the temptation to open it until winter has hit Cowtown. I haven been using it the past winter and just finished it. So I am ready to post my review on it.

The packaging for Blossom Jeju is gorgeous. I love the white and pink floral design but I was suckered in by the promise of delightful jasmine scents. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let's talk about the brand and ingredients first.
I just love this shot. It coincides with how the founder of Blossom Jeju got the inspiration for the brand :) She found the camellia flower in the snow!

Blossom Jeju is natural brand started by Sungna, who was inspired by the Jeju Camellia Oil. The products are made with unique blends of natural plant oils and botanical extracts. Their petal masks has 100% camellia oil that is applied before the mask and produced great results for me. So I am excite for the cream!

The cream is a feather-light cream that is supposed provide an intense dose of moisture for deep hydration and nourishment. It contains 54.72% of camellia extract, camellia seed oil, niacinamide, squalene, adenosine, lots of botanical extract and fragrance. The cream is said to leave a protective, yet breathable layer on the skin to retain hydration and nourishment while it prevents further damage and irritations that speed up the aging process.

Everything looks good so let's see how it performs.

The most enticing things about the Blossom Jeju series is their wonderful scent. I was enticed by the description of jasmine heaven by the various reviews of the serum. I was super excited after using the petal masks and falling absolutely in love with the scents. I am not even kidding you, my friends are aware of the Blossom Jeju mask by the reference of "jasmine heaven". Like seriously. I LOVE it. I would bathe in it. I was SO excited to open the blooming cream... BUT....

I was so sad.. The cream doesn't have that wonderful jasmine scent at all... Well no.. It does. It wafts in once in a while, but the predominant scent is this weird wet seed scent. I really don't like it. I thought maybe I got a bad batch or something, since I haven't opened it since receiving the product. But upon a discussion with a fellow Redditor, it appears that scent is normal. That makes me so sad. If I knew that was going to be the scent, I wouldn't have purchased it at all. Let alone spend $50+ on it (it's been a year, I can't remember how much I paid. )

The scent got a little weaker if I leave it open for a little bit, but I really disliked the scent and dreaded using the cream. There are scoops of the cream where all I can smell is the wonderful floral scent, but that means the cream wasn't mixed evenly. That's not impressive to me at all. I am quite disappointed.

The cream itself has a thickened yogurt consistency, like clotted cream. It is a light yellow cream and even though it looks creamy, I can see the oil droplets.

It spreads quite nicely on the back of the hand. Once it sunk in, the skin looks more moisturized. It left the skin feeling soft and supple even after washing my hands. After 6 hours, I didn't notice any textural difference but skin appears to be more plump. But that's just on the back of my hand, not my face. So let's move on to how it performs on the face.
Watermark is the separator. Below is with cream, above is without
The instructions says to warm the cream with palms, place on face. Then press firmly but with gentle pressure, never pulling or tugging the skin, moving from center and outwards. I wish I remembered the instruction for patting in the cream instead of rubbing it. Because I found that the cream was doing a major case of dragging on my skin. It was kind of quite annoying and now I know why! So don't be an idiot like me and apply the cream by patting it in.

I tried the patting method, and it did absorb much better than patting. However, it felt like my palm was doing suction on my face every time I patted. It was just a weird feeling. But at least it absorb much better.
Does this look like a webcam to anyone? XD
I was advised that a pea size of the cream was sufficient for the entire face. But for me, I used probably a dime size of product each time as I was trying to shorten the length of time I have to use this cream. Yeah, I couldn't believe how much I didn't want to use this cream.

The cream itself felt rich and made my skin feel very supple and plump. However, I think because I was using more than the recommended dosage, it left my skin feeling oily. It didn't make my face appear oily, but upon touch, it has a greasy feeling to it. I also got a little bit of a shine on my fingers when I rub the temple area. (I don't know why, but that area doesn't absorb very much products.)
I really thought the cream was a great product to use, despite the scent. I thought my skin was well moisturized but I was wrong. I put on a BB cushion and OMG! My face was cracks-ville!! There was SO much flakes everywhere. It looked terrible. I get part of it due to the lack of exfoliation, but it also means my skin is not moisturized enough. Urg. This past winter has been harsh and this cream just can't stand up against it.

So in conclusion, I don't think I'll repurchase this cream again. I highly dislike the scent, which I think I made it very clear at this point. It is a moisturizing cream, but it may not be sufficient for my dehydrated skin in a very cold and dry environment. It is also too heavy for summer, so it isn't a good cream for me personally. Perhaps it would be better for those who lives in a less chilly and dry environment, or with not so dehydrated skin. For the price, I need the cream to deliver a lot more and have a better scent.

Anyways, I am happy to hear that the toner and serum does have the wonderful jasmine scent. So those products are still on my to-buy list and will look out for good deals on those products!
