Mask Compilation #5 - AM Piggyhead Tour of Taiwan

Hey everyone~~ I am back with another edition of the mask compilation. Today's compilation is the Tour of Taiwan masks from AM Piggyhead. These came courtesy of Miirushop, a Taiwanese beauty shop that is based out of San Francisco, California. It is run by Eden, who I have met back in May and she is soooo lovely!

As always with products I received complimentary in exchange for my honest opinion, all opinion stated here are my own honest opinion.

AM Piggyhead - Miaoli Calming & Moisturizing Sheet Mask

I absolutely love the AM Piggyhead packaging as it is SOO cute!! I love cute packaging! I am always suckered into buying products purely due to its cute packaging. Let's hope it works along with with the cute packaging.

This Miaoli Calming & Moisturizing mask basically tell you what it is supposed to do with the name. It is to moisturize and soothe the skin, as well as smooth the wrinkles. I am a bit hesitant about the wrinkles claim. But let's move on.

It comes in 25ml of serum like essence, and it is typical of Taiwanese masks, so it was DRIPPING as soon as it came out of the package. So give it a squeeze before taking the mask out. The essence contains a lot of goodies like aloe extract, sodium hyaluronate, rose water, soluable collage, Q10 and hyaluronic acid. But it does contain methylparaben and fragrance. Though, despite the inclusion of fragrance, I barely smelled anything. So I think it is okay to use for those who are sensitive to scents.

I absolutely love the mask as it is a very thin silk mask that goes on almost invisible. Even though it is recommended to be on for only 10 - 15 minutes, I had it on for 30 minutes and it was still moist.

The result was... Good, but also bad? It left my forehead feeling a tad dry, like I left it on for too long. It left my skin feeling a bit sticky to the touch but not very hydrated. But my flush went down. Then I slapped on some of the extra essence and my skin felt hydrated and plump. It even lasted to the next morning, which is pretty awesome. But I am missing that dewiness I like.

AM Piggyhead - Beitou Hot Spring Repairing & Smoothing Mask

Next up is the Beitou Hot Spring Repairing and Smoothing Mask. Which is to plump up skin, smooth wrinkles, and soothe redness and breakout. It contains ingredients such as aloe leaf juice, sodium hyaluronate, rose water, soluble collage, oat and goldenrod extracts. It also have methylparaben and fragrance.

It comes in 25ml of essence but it's VERY drippy so always give it a squeeze! The essence has a sweet artificial scent that reminds me of a perfume. Not a big fan.

The mask is same thin silk mask as the prior mask, so I am assuming the rest are the same and won't continue to be repetitive.

I learned from my prior mistake and took it off around the 15 minutes mark instead of when it feels dry. Which resulted in no tight forehead feeling, meaning I did leave it on for too long previously. My skin felt tacky to the touch but I got the dewiness I was looking for. My skin is super plump and my pores appears to be smaller. I love the dewiness of my skin, but is a bit annoyed that it feels like I am touching a light layer of product. But hey, this plump effect last throughout the night, I am totally okay with having that feeling.

AM PIggyhead - Wulai Hot Springs Brightening and Purifying Sheet Mask

Not going to lie, the Wulai Hot Springs Brightening and Purifying mask is the one I least looked forward to using. I never really like using brightening masks, like seriously, I call myself the Queen of can't tell a difference" when it comes to brightening. I was surprised to find that the purpose of this mask is actually to soothe inflamed skin, even out dark spots and control oil production.

It comes in 25ml of essence that smells like a sweeter version of mosquito incense. I don't like the scent at all. The essence contains similar ingredients as the prior masks, but does contain extracts like ginkgo, argan, sea daffodil and aloe. As well as sodium hyaluronate, soluble collage, urea, methylparaben and perfume.

So with this mask, I didn't listen to my own advice and kept it on for 25 minutes instead of the recommended 10 to 15 minutes. as a result, my skin felt a bit tight as the extra essence was sinking in. My fault. Seriously, with these masks, follow the recommended time. That aside, my skin still felt quite hydrated which I really love.

Aside from the hydration, I didn't notice much. But in defense to the mask, I didn't have inflamed skin, or need control with oil production. And I only used it once so it doesn't have a long term effect for dark spots. So I think this was just not a mask that is meant for my skin. Maybe better suited for someone with oily sensitive skin.

AM Piggyhead - Madou Firming and Soothing Sheet Mask

Last mask is the Madou Firming and Soothing mask which is supposed to plump up skin, smooth wrinkles and soothe redness. That sounds pretty similar to the Beitou Hot Spring Repairing and Smoothing Mask. It has similar ingredients as the others but does have witch hazel water and oat extract. But it does contain alcohol, which is the only one in the series that have it.

The mask have a light floral note that makes me think of lychee. Which was pretty pleasant to have on for 15 minutes.

The essence is the lightest in the series and sunk in the quickest. It left my skin feeling hydrated and dewy but not tacky. It's exactly what I was looking for. I love it!

Overall Ranking

1) Madou Firming and Soothing Mask (light essence but makes my skin feel so hydrated and dewy. I don't mind the alcohol in this case.)

2) Beitou Hot Spring Repairing and Smoothing Mask (plump skin with that dewiness I was looking for)

3) Miaoli Calming and Moisturizing Mask (It also plumps up my skin but I just really wish it had that dewiness. It was a toss up between Beitou and Miaoli)

4) Wulai Hot Springs Brightening and Purifying Mask (I just don't think it's made for my combination but dehydrated skin. More for someone who has oily and easily irritated skin)
