Memebox Special #81 - The Next Best Thing in Skin Care

I love skincare boxes, that is pretty much why I started with Memebox. Well, that and cute items. So when they released the Next Best Thing box, I HAD to get it!

The box was $23 + 6.99 shipping. It took forever to ship to me as it was sent to customs for inspection for a while. But I was very happy to receive it! It even included a Mememask as a bonus item!

This is also one of the first boxes that comes with an electronic product card instead of a paper one.

**All prices listed are from product card unless otherwise stated**

Lassie'el Night Miracle Sleeping Pack 4g x 2ea ($6)
Randomly selected from Egg, Mango, Pearl Shell, Avocado
Product Description: Adorably packaged mini sleeping packs formulated with concentrated extracts from egg, mango, avocado, and pearl. They work to deeply hydrate and rejuvenate dry, exhausted skin overnight to reveal healthier and brighter complexion the next morning.

Thoughts: HOW ADORABLE ARE THESE?! I got exactly what I wanted, the mango and pearl shell. They are so adorable that I don't want to use them at all. You are supposed to break apart the spoon from the top then blend the gel and the cream together before putting it on your face.

The mango sleeping pack is to soothe your skin while providing hydration and bring back vitality to your skin. There is an outer gel (the flesh of the fruit shaped container) that contains aloe, licorice extracts, and purslane extracts that are effective for soothing your skin. While the inner cream (seed of the container) is also effective for soothing.

The pearl shell contains a pearl shaped cream that contains pearl powder, which contains skin brightening properties. While the shell, which house the outer gel, is high in moisture and brightening due to the inclusion of mulberry bark and blueberries.

Their website contains the ingredients list for all four types of sleeping mask. Just click on the links above.
A.H.C Hologram Active Gen Serum 50ml ($89)
Product Description: This premium serum combines active aesthetic ingredients with a scientific liposome system that maximizes absorbance of nutrients deep into the skin, to give a visibly enhanced complexion. A blend of ice fig extracts, hydrolyzed collagen, and ginseng callus extracts effectively firms, brightens, and repairs dry, damaged skin, reviving youthful and healthy glow to the complexion.

Thoughts: This is a really pretty serum. But it has an expiration of November 4, 2015, which is less than a year to use. Urg. I am already trying to use my Tosowoong Timeshift serum right now. Now I got a serum that I have to use within 11 months? Great.....

The serum has the English ingredients list on the side of the box, unfortunately, they listed Alcohol Denat as the 4th ingredient. If they are anything like Canadian ingredients listing, that is quite a large concentration. Denatured alcohol is often looked down on as it could dry out your skin. So if you have a toner or serum that has denatured alcohol high on the ingredient list, it's always important to swatch it to see if its effect on your skin.

I am lazy and my skin barely reacts with anything. So I put it on instead of my normal serum. The serum takes little time to sink in but it did cause slight tingles on dry spots. My face feels pretty soft after the serum application so I am going to continue to use it to see if it will cause any dryness.

Edit: I broke out really bad around the chin and cheek area, where I haven't had more than two angry red zits happening at once. I can only pinpoint it down to the serum or the Nature Republic Chamomile sheet mask. Those were the only thing changed in my routine that night and the next day I woke up with angry spots all over my chin and cheeks. Thank goodness for the Benton snail essence which calmed it down significantly but I still have one persistent zit on my cheek that will not go down. :( Handed this to my brother as he ran out of moisturizer. If he breaks out using this as well, I am telling him to chuck it.
IASO Intensive Clear Conditioner 15 sheets ($12)
Product Description: Containing centella asiatica, aloe vera, licorice extracts, and BHA salicylic acid for softly melting away dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, IASO Intensive Clear Conditioner sheet is a new easy and convenient method to maintaining silky soft and even toned complexion.

Thoughts: Sigh. This is the second item in the box with a short expiration date. It expires June 15th, 2015. Luckily it's just 15 sheets of conditioner.

I misunderstood what this was! Hahahaha. I thought it was a cleanser sheet so I was being super lazy and used it to wipe down my face. I was too lazy to put on any ampoules, serums or moisturizers. So I was pleasantly surprised that it's really moisturizing for a cleanser sheet. Now that I look at the description again and realized it's actually a moisturizer sheet. Everything makes sense! I can take these when I am traveling instead of jars or samples of moisturizers.

Blithe Patting Water Pack 5ml x 6ea ($6.90)
Includes Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey, Soothing & Healing Green Tea, Rejuvenating Purple Berry
Product Description: No need to stick on a sheet mask every night with Blithe’s all-new Patting Water Pack! Simply through patting on the water pack onto your skin, it’ll remove dead skin cells, deliver moisture & nutrition, and renew the skin balance for maintaining soft, moist skin condition. The Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey revitalizes and brightens up the skin and the Soothing & Healing Green Tea is for oil and pore control, while the Rejuvenating Purple Berry works to improve skin elasticity and firmness.

Thoughts: I have heard raves about the Blithe patting water from Veritazy, a blogger I found while looking into Memeboxes. She loves the patting water and actually made a misting water from the water pack. So I was definitely happy to see the sample pack in my box instead of the full bottle. These sample packs allows me to try all of the line and just small enough so I can make my own misting water as well.

Now to explain, the proper usage for the patting water is to fill 1/4 of the basin with water. Then mix in 1 lid-full (~7ml) of the patting water pack. Then repeatedly pat onto your face for 30 seconds and let it absorb into your skin. Now quite a few people is unwilling to do this as that requires a daily cleaning of the basin and seems to be a waste of the leftover solution. So Veritazy has come up with the idea that she can make a misting water instead of a patting water. I think her method is less wasteful so I am looking forward to using her way once I am done my mist. *digs out the aloe mist to use*

Shara Shara Green Tea Seed Magic Balm 25ml ($17)
Product Description: Enriched with green tea seed oil, jojoba seed oil, argan tree kernel oil, and over 30 kinds of natural essential oil, this multi oil balm delivers rich moisture and nutrients by softly melting onto skin. It’s scented with a refreshing lime essential oil fragrance and can be used from head to toe as a multi cream, a sleeping pack, a massage cream, a lip balm, a highlighter, or a hand & foot pack.

Thoughts:  Sigh.. This is the third product with a short expiration date in a SINGLE box. Urg. Not happy. This expires July 18th, 2015. Just why Memebox...Why are you including so much products that expires soon, forcing me to either give it away or replace items in my routine to use it. Memebox's explanation for such a short expiration date on this product is that it's all natural products with no preservatives added. That makes sense, but I feel like they should have provided the explanation on the product card instead of having people emailing then waiting for days for an answer. There has been complaints that the cream smelling like rancid oil instead of lime. Mine smells like lime with a canola oil after smell.

The balm is solid in the jar but as soon as it hits body heat, it melts into an oil. It goes on oily but it just takes a few rubs for it to be absorbed. I think I'll be using it on my feet and hands instead of on my face. I have a feeling it may be a little too oily for my face.

Edit: I have been using this balm on my feet twice now. Once where I rubbed it in, waited 10 minutes or so, rubbed it in some more, before going to bed. That left light oily foot prints on my floor but my feet felt soft next day. The second time I rubbed it in and wore socks to bed so it can have all night to sink in. Sadly, the oil still did not fully sink in. I could feel my feet being oily still and I had oily foot prints everywhere. The smell on my hand also was not a good smell, kind of smelled like rancid oil. I think I'll keep on applying it to my feet but at a smaller amount and wash my hands thoroughly afterwards.

Dr.MJ Moisture BOunce Collagen Capsule Cream 50g (($54)
Product Description: A rejuvenating facial cream formulated into bouncy, jelly-like texture packed with collagen capsules, hyaluronic acid, and adenosine to intensively hydrate and gently firm up sensitive and tired skin. It works to alleviate and nourish stimulated skin for a quick skin renewal as well.

Thoughts: I like the Dr.MJ skincare products I received so far. This is just another product I can't wait to use. Unfortunately, it seems like it's routine for the brand to not include any spoons for the jarred products.

If you look closely in the picture, you can see little bubbles looking like grease bubbles. That is actually the collagen capsule of the cream.

The cream does not have very strong smell to it and it feels pretty moisturizing. I feel like this is more of a gel product than a cream. I feel like it's a good product for the summer as it feels light. Sticking it in my stash.

Memebox Hydrogel Mask ($3)
Product DescriptionEnhance radiance, alleviate irritation, effectively illuminate, and create firm, resilient skin. We bring you our very own Mememask  formulated with only the best ingredients such as, Baobab Tree Seed Extract, Chamomile, Niacinamide and Adenosine, and Polyglutamic Acid, leaving your skin radiant and hydrated.

Thoughts: I thought Memebox would include the Mememask due to their description. So I wasn't surprised that it was included but very happy that it was included as a bonus item. I have seen reviews about this mask and they all seem to be pretty good. So this will be put into my growing mask stash.

Advice that they are currently have sales on the mask where the cheapest is 5 pcs for $10. That works out to be $2/mask plus shipping. Not too bad for a hydrogel mask.

Overall Thoughts: I am really unhappy that half of the box expires within 11 months. But the other half of the box makes up for it. I  love how adorable the sleeping masks are and the light moisture cream from Dr.MJ. I am extremely happy to receive the Blithe patting water pack as I really thought I won't see it in a box anytime soon.
