There are 7 types of mask included in the take out box container. All but one is listed in Korean, and since I can't read or write Korean, I used this site to help me figure things out.
Peppermint |
This is the only packaging in English, which was kind of odd. As you can see from the side picture, each container has its own spoon so you don't have to find a suitable spoon to mix up the mask. The menthol in the peppermint oil cools and calms down any angry skin while relieving dry skin from constant itching. The scent of peppermint is also a great scent to destress to.
Chlorella |
Chlorella is a genus of single celled algae and it contains 20 kinds of vitamins and minerals, 18 kinds of amino acides, plentiful vegetable nutrients and chlorophyll. The mask is to soothe skin sensitivity caused by weather, UV rays or stress. It is also good for clearing your complexion and improving skin health.
Ingredients: diatomaceous earth, calcium sulfate hydrate, algin, potassium alginate, magnesium carbonate, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, sodium phosphate, malpighia emarginata(acerola) fruit extract, ethyl ascorbyl ether, allantoin, betaine, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder, citrus limon (lemon) fruit oil, red oxide of iron
Acerola |
Acerola contains a high amount of vitamin C, and their production of vitamin C tend to be more better absorbed than synthetic ascorbic acid. The vitamin C gives energy to the skin while cleaning and brighten it. The mask also temporarily tights pores.
Oatmeal |
Oatmeal exfoliates even the most sensitive skin without stimulation. It also provides deep moisture and nutrition to the skin through minerals and vitamin B.
Ingredients: diatomaceous earth, calcium sulfate, algin, glucose, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, potassium alginate, allantoin, aloe barbadensis leaf powder, calendula offinalis powder, cellulose gum, maltodextrin, glycerin esters of fatty acids, lactococcus ferment extract, adenosine, fragrance
Calendula |
Information for the Calendula pack is found here. Calendula, or marigold, improves damaged skin while alleviate stimulation and relax the skin. It is also a great source of moisture for the skin.
Ingredients: diatomaceous earth, calcium sulfate hydrate, algin, yogurt powder, potassium alginate, magnesium carbonate, sodium hyaluronate, dpotassium glycyrrhizate, sodium phosphate, allantoin, betaine, manganese violet, aniba rosaeodora (rosewood) wood oil.
I purchased this box purely to try it out but since my mom has been bothering me to get her some peel off masks, I think these will be a great Christmas present for her. Of course I will steal one, probably acerola, and try it. The fact that it will dry into a rubbery texture is so neat. I can't wait to try it.. Oh Chrstmas can you come any sooner?!
I would say that the mask set is a really good sale at $17 with free shipping. It is not too expensive as modeling packs are $2+ so at $2.40 each, the Ettang masks are a good deal for such a variety.
Edit: I have tried this mask twice now. Once with just a whole tub, and once with half a tub of powder. First of all, OMG my skin felt extremely soft afterwards, I didn't want to put anything on top to get rid of that softness. My skin was still super soft the next day. The amount of powder used does not diminish how soft my skin felt after the removal of the mask.
The mask is not hard to get to the right consistency if you just add a bit of water at a time and constantly stir. The right consistency is kind of a thick gooey batter that you can spread, almost like a whipped cream that has achieved stiff peak. The application is easy once you get it at the right consistency. It just stays on your face until it's dried and you peel it off. The texture of the dried mask is hard to describe. It feels cold to the touch and it feels like silicone but softer than that.
Now the dosage of powder. I found a full tub to do wonderful job but I had to put on so much it seemed a bit wasteful. So I tried half a tub, and it ended in disaster. First of all, I applied most to my cheeks so they were well moisturized. But the edges of my face did not have a thick layer of mask, so when they dried, they were just attached to my skin. I had to splash lots of water and use a face towel to scrub them off. That was painful. Worse of all, those little bits just clumps up at the sink. I can't imagine if what would happen if a large chunk fell down the drain and into the pipes.
So unless you got a tiny face, I wouldn't recommend using it with only half a tub of powder. I would use the full tub to avoid the pain of removing the thinner spots and possibly clogging up your drain. Otherwise, this mask does its job in calming down your skin and make it oh so soft for days.
Yogurt |
The yogurt pack brightens your skin while making it soft and smooth. This was included in the Yogurt box.
Ingredients: diatomaceous earth, calcium sulfate hydrate, algin, potassium alginate, magnesium carbonate, sodium hyaluronate, dpottasium gylcyrrhizate, propolis extract, sodium phosphate, allantoin, betaine, yellow oxide of iron, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil
Propolis |
The propolis mask contains the flavonoid and nutrition from the propolis, which provides deep moisture while protecting the skin from the elements. It also brightens the skin.
