This is a new brand to me so here's a little background on the brand. B.liv (pronounced as believe) started in 2009 in Malaysia if I recall correctly. It was created to cater to the demand for an easy-to-use and affordable personal skincare regimen. It is currently the leading brand in pores management solution, but I have no idea in what country.
The brand started to make the rounds among the Instagram skincare community in 2017 and I have been a bit intrigued by the brand. So I was quite glad we got a whole box of their newly released Immerse Me Utmost Moisture Hydrating Mask. (Seriously though, that is a mouthful. And the packaging was quite confusing as to what the mask is called. Thank goodness for the back of the packaging!)
The mask is apparently reformulated to include aquacell. This mask is to inject a lavish boost of hydration to provide instant hydration, improve water retention and provide a lasting hydration effect on the skin. It is designed for dry or dehydrated skin, which is what I have, as I have dehydrated skin.
Ingredients list includes:
aqua (water), butylene glycol, glycerin, sodium pca, glyceryl polyacrylate, phenoxyethanol, xanthan gum, chlorphenesin, honey extract, hydrolyzed adansonia digitata extract, ethylhexylglycerin, sodium hyaluronate, ppg-26-buteth-26, peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil, imperata cylindrica (cogongrass) root extract, citrullus lanatus (watermelon) fruit extract, lens esculenta (lentil) fruit extract, propylene glycol, pentylene glycol, alpinia galanga rhizome extract, hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate, pyrus malus (apple) fruit, peg-8, sodium lactate, carbomer, caprylic/capric triglyceride, fragrance.
*acquacell ™ - water, glycerin, citrullus vulgaris (watermelon) fruit extract, pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, lens esculenta (lentil) fruit extract, sodium pca & sodium lactate combines watermelon rind extracts, lentil extracts, unripened apple and apple skin
The ingredients list was taken from B.liv's website and they even included what aquacell is made out of. CosDNA analysis indicated that it doesn't only has a couple ingredients that registers low on the acne and irritant triggers list, but does have a few that is within level 4 on the safety list.
Onto the performance.
The mask is packed with 28ml of runny essence that has a very light artificial scent. The mask soaked up almost all of the essence, such that there wasn't any left in the package. The mask is made out of a material that held on to all of that juicy essence so that it doesn't drip down when I was handling the mask. It also looked very thin on my face, where it looks like I have a very thin, semi-transparent mask on. But it felt quite thick upon touch. It was kind of weird since my eyes and touch perceptions aren't matching.
The mask had a good fit for me. I didn't need to adjust the nose flap or along the hairline. It was also nice that it adhered so well that I can walk around and do things without worrying about the mask sliding off of my face.
The recommended time for the mask was 15 to 20 minutes but I had it on for bout 25 minutes as it was quite comfortable. The mask was still very moist at this point, but the upper lip area was starting to dry out.
There was quite a bit of extra essence, which sunk in quickly. But for some reason, it took a little longer on my eyebrows. Maybe because there were thicker hairs so it is blocking the absorption a little bit? The mask dried down to a non-tacky matte finish and my skin felt quite dewy to the touch. I kind of felt like I didn't need to put on any more products afterwards and my skin will still be hydrated enough.
I am quite happy with this mask and how it hydrated my skin. My dehydrated skin really appreciated it! The price is not bad at all, with the price being US$19 for a box of 10. That's just around $2 CAD per mask. That's not too bad considering it did quite well hydrating my skin. I would totally buy it again with my own money. Maybe even try their other products.
Thank you B.liv for allowing me to try this mask!
