[WOODLOT] - Nourishing Facial Oil

I was lucky to attend Skinvestment's Beauty Date x MTL event in Montreal back in May. I was even more lucky that this year's event was focused on green skincare! I am always up for some skincare products to try! Today's review is the Woodlot Nourishing Facial Oil.

So I don't really know much about Woodlot, but I was informed at the event that this is a Canadian home deco store. It seems like most people know about the brand, because they were like "oooh I was wondering if it's the same Woodlot" and "Oh, I thought that packaging looks familiar". So it's just me who didn't know. Hahah. That's okay! Better late than never right?

The Nourishing Facial Oil we received is the sample size, and has a very nice simple design to it. The oil is an orange-yellow hue and is housed in a small glass bottle with a dropper. I just find it quite pleasing to look at. XD Yeah weird I know, but it's pleasing to look at.

**Before I go any further, it's the usual disclaimer that even though I received this product free from the company, all opinions expressed here is of my own. **

The ingredients list short and sweet, which follows their philosophy of crafting with purity.

Rosehip Oil*, Olive Oil*, Apricot Oil, Jojoba Oil*, Argan Oil*, Shea Butter*, Bergamot Essential Oil*, Chamomile Essential Oil*, Lavender Essential Oil*

*Organic Ingredient

Yes, that's it. Just a blend of 9 oils and essential oils. Some of which are organic too. This definitely fit the definition of green beauty!

It is ideal for all skin types. But I know some people aren't fond of having essential oils in their skincare products for different reasons. So this short ingredients list makes it really easy to pinpoint all the essential oils.

To be honest, I was a bit concerned about the chamomile and lavender essential oils. Because I am not fond of either of the scents, so I was afraid I was gonna hate the scent of the oil. Luckily I don't hate it! I think the chamomile is still pretty prominent in the oil, but it's not overpowering. And I can't smell the lavender at all, which is GREAT!

The instruction said to apply a couple of drops after cleansing in the morning and evening on he face or wherever extra moisture is needed. It is recommended the oil is applied to a damp face or after toner.

I definitely recommend applying it to a damp face, or mix it in with your serum or essence.

I first tried it at the Beauty Date x MTL event, right after masking. The extra essence was sinking in as I was applying the oil, and it just kind of felt like I was pulling my skin a little bit. In fact, that kind of turned me off from trying it when I got home. But I tried it again by mixing three drops into my serum and it applied like a dream. It just felt like I was applying my serum, but the result was definitely different from the serum alone! I then tried using just three drops immediately after applying my toner, and again, it went on very smoothly. So a bit of a moisture on the skin will reduce the friction of applying the oil.

The product website says the oil is designed to be light so it absorbs quickly and penetrate well. That it will brighten and even the skin tone for a balanced and radiant complexion. (I am referring to the website as the sample only came with instructions. It didn't come with a claim or ingredients list. I am assuming that will be available on the full sized product)

Well, I been using it since I got back from Montreal, so roughly a month. I been using 3 drops each time, and that is sufficient for me. But I must make it clear that I was only using 3 drops for half of my face as I was also testing another facial oil from the event. So I probably need at least 6 drops for a full face. Anyways. It's been a month, and I been using it roughly every day and I barely even made a dent in this bottle. So I think the sample size will last me a little while.

Ok, product performance.

I already mentioned above that the oil blended with the serum goes on very smoothly. It does have a strong herbal scent to it but it does go away after a few minutes.

I actually found it to be just slightly too heavy for my skin in summer. Just because it took a while to sink into my skin. Sometimes I found oily spots on my face hours after application. But it is very nourishing! My skin felt very moisturized and bouncy since I started using it. When I go to pinch it, it feels soft and moisturized. Even if it's been a full day since application.

As for the brightening.. Well.. If you ever read my blog before, you know I am the queen of "I can't tell a difference" with skin tone changes. So I honestly can't say for sure it's gotten better or not.

I would say this is a good facial oil, light enough for summer usage. And this is coming from someone who only uses oils in the winter, despite having dehydrated skin. It is a tad too much for my liking but honestly it's just only a little bit. I been using it in 28C weather and it's completely fine. My skin didn't break out or look oily. I just don't like discovering random oily patches but those goes away with a little massaging.

It has a simple ingredients list and is made in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. But may not be the best for those who does not like to have essential oils in their skincare products. It is a light oil that sinks in well and makes my skin feel moisturized and plump. I really enjoyed using it in the past month. But I think I will reserve the rest of the sample for fall and winter. That's when I need it the most and I think I want to use up the other oil first as it is thinner.

Huge thanks to Woodlot for providing the samples to Beauty Date x MTL and allowing me to try it.
